If there is a long line of cars behind you, please
refrain from asking the Park Ranger in the toll booth detailed questions, and do so at the
visitor center just a couple hundred of yards ahead, instead. The people behind you
in line will thank you for that.
After the toll booth go straight ahead, which will
bring you immediately to the Visitor Center. It is recommended to start your drive through
the Park in this directions. After the Visitor Center you can then continue the
"Chain of Craters Drive", and go to the Sulphur Banks, Steam Vents, Jaggar
Museum, Halemaumau Crater, Thurston Lava Tube, and Kilauea Iki Trail, till you come out
right where you started. (From the view shown above, a road immediately to the left after
of the toll booth).
FEES, COSTS, RATES
Entrance to the park (a seven-day permit) is $20.00 per vehicle, $10.00 for pedestrians or
bicyclists. Fees for those arriving by commercial bus or tour vary by passenger capacity.
Persons holding a Golden Age Passport (available to U.S. citizens or residents 62 years of
age or older for a one-time fee) or Golden Eagle Passport are admitted free of

OPERATING HOURS, SEASONS
Park is open 24 hours a day all year;
Kilauea Visitor Center daily 7:45 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.;
Jaggar Museum daily 8:30 a.m.- 7:30 p.m.
