THE ANNUAL MERRIE MONARCH FESTIVAL (Big Island)  March 31 - April 2  -- 42nd Annual Merrie Monarch Hula Festival Hilo, Hawai'i.  A week-long festival of cultural events including Hawaii's most prestigious hula competition at Edith Kanaka`ole Stadium. The festival begins with a Ho`olaule'a on Moku Ola (Coconut Island) on Easter Sunday in Hilo with lots of music, food and fun. On Wednesday there is a free hula exhibition night at the stadium that begins at 6:30 pm.; Thursday is the solo Miss Aloha Hula competition; Friday & Saturday are the group Kahiko (ancient) and Auana (modern) hula competitions. A grand parade winds through Hilo-town on Saturday morning. Requests for tickets for the 2004 festival will be accepted after December 26, 2003. Dorothy Thompson or Luana Kawelu at  808 935-9168

Dates of the Hula Competition:

Wednesday - FREE ADMISSION
Thursday : Miss Aloha Hula
Friday: Group/Hula Kahiko
Saturday: Group/Hula `Auana

Ordering Tickets:
Tickets are only available via mail order; no phone requests will be taken.  

Requests should include a self-addressed, stamped legal-size envelope, and payment either by money order or cashier's check, made payable to "The Merrie Monarch Festival."

 Please state in your request whether you would accept an alternate section or General Admission if your request for Reserved Seating cannot be met.

Only request postmarked December 26 or later, will be accepted. Requests postmarked prior Dec 26, 2004, will not be accepted. Request will be worked on and sent back the last week in January or beginning of February.

Ticket purchases are limited to two (2) sets per envelope, and only one (1) envelope per person.  You will generally receive your tickets (or refund) by the end of February.
