Kate’s Volcano Cottage is a large (18’ x 20’) studio cottage with a private bathroom, which has a shower, and, in the spacious main room, a king-sized bed, full-sized futon couch, fully equipped, compact kitchen (including a 20” electric range, under-counter refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven), an entertainment center, a private phone, and a large armchair. There’s a baseboard heater for those cool Volcano nights.

Kate’s has a shingled exterior with a covered front porch.  
The covered front porch has a small bench and a chair. A large covered side deck, which is very private, is described below. Kate’s is located on the same acre of upland forest as Kahi Malu, in a quiet corner of Volcano Village. They share a driveway, but each has its own parking space.

Kate's Volcano Cottage is stocked with hot and cold cereals, granolas, a variety of teas, regular and decaf coffees, and tropical jelly.  Located in Volcano Village, just a five-minute drive from Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park, a forty-minute drive from Hilo International airport, and a two-and-a-half hour drive from Kona's Keahole airport.

The kitchen is small but fully furnished, with counter seating, and includes a 20” electric range, under-counter refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster oven.

The large (160-square-foot) covered side deck has an eight-foot bench for lounging, a table and chairs for indoor-outdoor dining, and is very private, nestled up to a forest knoll.
